A Note on Kindness and Respect

We kindly ask—truly, we must ask—that you approach every conversation about our school, other schools in MISD, and the district with kindness and respect. This applies to posts on social media, emails to the district, remarks at school board meetings, and even casual conversations with friends and neighbors.

Let us be very clear: speaking negatively about another campus is not okay. As taxpayers and community members, you absolutely have the right and responsibility to make your voices heard. But doing so in a way that tears down others is not who we are at Eddins. That has never been, and will never be, our way.

Our strength lies not just in our voices, but in our reputation for positivity, collaboration, and integrity. Please help us protect the longstanding culture that makes Eddins special.

And finally, if you know neighbors who may not receive these updates, we’d be grateful if you would share this message with them. Together, we can ensure that our advocacy reflects the very best of who we are.

9.20.24

The school board has approved the creation of an Educational Facilities Alignment Committee. This committee is composed of parents from across the district. MISD community members will have opportunities to advise the committee.

The committee's charge is to make informed decisions regarding the identification of 3 elementary campuses to repurpose for alternative district operational uses and recommend district-wide attendance zones which most efficiently use building capacity. These changes will be in place for the 2026-27 school year.

The timeline is September-December which includes 6 committee meetings and 2 community feedback sessions. The community feedback sessions are scheduled for October 21 and December 2.

The recommendations will be presented to the Board at the December 15th meeting.
